BRING THE TROPICS INDOOR THIS FALL!
Plants and Palms are the perfect way to bring the spirit of the tropics indoors all year round. Not only can the right plant bring all the great tropical vibes we at The Pineapple Everything LOVE, but they have also been shown to reduce stress, filter the air, increase productivity, and create an inspiring place to work and live. Therefore, we wanted to share with you three of our absolute favorite indoor tropical plants that are easy to maintain and bring the best of the beach indoors for you to enjoy!
Chinese Fan Palm
The Chinese Fan Palm is your quintessential tropical palm and thrives indoors and outdoors alike. Although a relatively slow grower, these beauties can grow up to 15 feet or greater over a number of years (think decades) in the right conditions, so if you plan on keeping this palm as a family heirloom, consider the subglobosa dwarf cultivar if you plan on a permanent indoor setting.
To keep your Chinese Fan Palm growing and happy, provide bright, indirect light (younger plants can tolerate some shade), watering when the topsoil feels dry, and choose a large pot that will support its large root system. For extra growth, consider feeding the palm fertilizer each spring!
Parlor Palm
Originally from Mexico and Guatemala, the Parlor Palm is the perfect pint-sized plant to bring a tropical flare to your home. These plants are easy to come by and easy to care for and rarely grow more than a few feet when planted indoors making for a beautiful, quaint palm.
To keep your Parlor Palm happy and healthy make sure to give it good indirect light (but be careful to not have it exposed to direct sunlight or its leaves may burn). Water normally like your other plants, keeping in mind the Parlor Palm prefers to be on the drier side during the winter months.
Yucca Palm
Many types of Yucca Palms are available, but the most common grow on large woody stems with a lush, sharp-leafed palm top that makes for a fantastic tropical focal point in any room. The Yucca Palm is also widely available--think IKEA or Home Depot.
As with our other palms, these stunning plants are super easy to care for. Aim to place you Yucca Palm in indirect, bright light although note that these CAN be placed in bright, direct light, however you may experience some browning of the leaves. Water when the top layer of soil is dry to the touch and you will have yourself a thriving palm for years to come!
